Bacterial infections caused by sensitive microflora:
Intramuscular, intravenous stream and drip. Before prescribing, the sensitivity of the isolated pathogen should be determined. The dosage regimen is determined individually depending on the severity of the infection. For a single dose exceeding 2 g, the drug is administered intravenously. The daily dose is divided into 2-3 injections. The duration of intravenous administration is 5–7 days, followed by a transition, if necessary, to intramuscular administration or oral administration of the drug. The duration of treatment depends on the form and severity of the disease and is 5–14 days or more. A single dose for adults is 1–2 g, administered every 8–12 hours (3–6 g per day). A single dose for adults when administered intramuscularly should not exceed 1 g. The maximum daily dose for adults is 6 g. Newborns, premature infants and children under 1 year of age are prescribed a daily dose of 100 mg/kg, children of other age groups – 50 mg/kg. A single dose for children when administered intramuscularly is not higher than 0.5 g.
In case of severe infection, doses for adults and children can be increased by 1.5–2 times; in this case, the drug is administered intravenously. The daily dose is distributed over 2-3 injections with an interval of 8-12 hours. In case of renal failure, treatment regimens are adjusted by reducing the dose or extending the interval between injections (24-48 hours). When CC is 10–30 ml/min, the drug is administered in a daily dose of 1 g, then 0.5 g every 12 hours; with CC less than 10 ml/min – 1 g, then 0.5 g every 24 hours. In patients in a state of anuria, the daily dose should not exceed 2 g. Patients on hemodialysis are prescribed an additional 2 g of the drug: 0.5 g during a hemodialysis session and 0.5 g after its completion.
