Nalidixic acid has significant antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria, including Proteus mirabilis, P. morganii, P. vulgaris and P. rettgeri; Escherichia coli, Enterobacter (Aerobacter) and Klebsiella.

Manual

each tablet contains:

  • Nalidixic acid BP 500 mg;
  • Excipients q.s.

Treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug:

  • pyelonephritis;
  • cystitis;
  • urethritis;
  • prostatitis;
  • gastrointestinal infections;
  • intestinal infections;
  • cholecystitis.

Prevention of infections during operations on the kidneys, ureters, and bladder.

Orally, take one hour before meals.
For adults, the initial dose is 1 g (2 tablets), maintenance dose is 500 mg every 6 hours. The maximum daily dose is 4 g, in severe conditions up to 6 g.
For children over 12 years of age (weighing more than 40 kg), the initial dose is 50 mg/kg, maintenance dose is 30 mg/kg per day, divided into 4 doses.
The duration of taking the drug is at least 7 days.
